Passage To India, Stony Stratford

Indian restaurant in the centre of Stony Stratford. More pricey than your cheap n cheerful curryhouse, fast service, avarage food.

I must admit I'd beeen curious to visit ever since I'd read a story in the MK Citizen about a businessman who used to be a regular, now in New York, paid for a take away to be delivered from here to his place in New York, with a waiter travelling by taxi, helicopter and jumbo jet to bring him his favourite restaurant's food.

I've got to admit I wasn't as impressed as he was.

The restaurant is in a modern building in the centre of Stony Stratford High Street, which means it was always going to have to try harder to impress. They've done it out like it wasa railway station with a big picture of a train and the restaurant tables set out as if they are in carriages. Sort of works but not entirely there.

The food was quite heavily flavoured, my vegetable biryani was heavy on the spices. My girlfriend had a garlic dish, there's a whole section on garlic varieties of things. She said it was ok but nothing special.

Service was fast and formal.

It was above average cost for a midweek meal we thought (2 main courses, a naan bread, a lemonade and lassi came to 23 pounds).
